My name is Megan Long and this is my first year working as a speech-language pathologist, as well as my first year working with ProCare Therapy. I obtained my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Communication Disorders from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. I moved to Arkansas in January, 2011 and began my career in August 2011.
Since high school, when someone asked me what I wanted to do, I have always said, “become a speech therapist.” I wanted to be able to help others communicate their needs and ideas just like I can on a daily basis. While on my internship in Kansas City, Missouri, I fell in love working with both children and adults in a rehabilitation setting. ProCare has provided me with the opportunity to work with both this year in a school setting. I am currently placed in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where I work with both elementary and high school students.
I have already learned so much in my first year and I know there is only room to continue growing in this field. Looking back on this first year, it has been nothing but rewarding. I would like to thank ProCare and my recruiter, Whitney Baird, for giving me the ability to work with such a variety of students doing what I love, and being nothing but helpful every day!”
Megan has received rave reviews from our client and the community she serves. Here’s what they had to say:
